On an episode of the television show The Simpsons, actor Troy McClure attempts to revive his career by marrying Marge's sister Selma. When Troy gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he says that Selma will soon have the star next to his, "so watch out ... Laszlo Panaflex!" (the name on the star next to his).

The name probably refers to cinematographer László Kovács, who used a Panaflex camera on some of his films.
